Important news for Windows 7/8 and Windows 10 users: 7/8 / 10
Solving your PC problems

Gideon-IT can resolve virtually all the problems you are likely to encounter with your servers, business PCs, home PCs, networks, internet connection or software.
We are able to support all versions of Microsoft Windows and can advise you regarding the latest version, Windows 11. We can clean viruses & spyware infections, rescue data from many kinds of PC failure, help improve the performance of your system, install and upgrade software and hardware as well as resolve virtually any other problems you may have with your PC.
If you're thinking of replacing an older PC for a new Windows 11 PC we can recommend one that will suit your budget and requirements, plus we can migrate all your documents, photos, music, email and other data from the old machine to the new one.
We also offer a first class consultation service to our business customers. If you don't have in-house expertise helping you maximise your use of IT then call Gideon-IT. We offer impartial, honest advice to help you make the most of the IT equipment you have and help you plan for the future.
Protecting your vital data

Gideon-IT can install a backup system that keeps you safe from computer failure and data corruption.
Have you ever lost some critical data from your PC? Lost your holiday photos, your emails, a vital spreadsheet or document that you've been working on for days? Have you ever accidentally deleted a file or overwritten a file with the same name? Has your PC ever just failed losing everything? Is your paid-for music collection protected? Hard drives can fail without any notice at all, but with an automatic backup system you needn't lose anything and it doesn't have to cost thousands or even hundreds of pounds.
For laptops or PCs this means an inexpensive portable hard-drive and some simple software to ensure everything on your PC is kept safe. If you have a network in your office then a drive big enough to backup all the PCs can be set up on the network and each PC can backup to the same backup drive. With a second drive they can be swapped daily to ensure one backup is always kept off-site: protecting your data from fire, theft or other disasters.
If you have a server then Gideon-IT can recommend and install a suitable backup system and software to protect your business from catastrophic data-loss.
New installations and upgrades

Gideon-IT can help your business make the most of modern network technology.
We can help you share resources such as printers and disk storage amongst your users.
We can set up wireless networks in the home or the office to allow laptop users and others to connect to your shared resources without the expense of installing extra cabling.
We can upgrade your existing network to run at the latest speeds. There need be no more waiting for a large file to creep down an elderly network when a gigabit (1,000Mb) network is now so affordable.
Businesses without a server can still use a network based backup solution without it breaking the bank.
If your business is growing and you want to know how a client/server system could help you manage your document storage and retrieval, and your PCs, then please call us.

Older Windows PC? Older version.
If you last bought a PC between 2009 and 2013 it probably came with Windows 7. Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 in February 2020. You can no longer upgrade for free to Windows 10 so a new PC is probably the way forward. Windows 10 is now on borrowed time, and support ends in October 2027. Click here for more information.
If you just use your PC for browsing the internet and email then migrating to Linux would give your PC a new lease of life. So long as you don't need iTunes, Office or other Windows-only software this will be much cheaper than buying a new PC. Gideon-IT can move all your data from Windows to Linux.
Please contact Gideon-IT to discuss how to do this and the best way to ensure your PC will continue to work for many more years.
If you last bought a PC between 2013 and 2015 it probably came with Windows 8 or 8.1. Microsoft ended support for Windows 8 in January 2016 and Windows 8.1 support ended in January 2023. You can no longer upgrade either directly to Windows 10 for free. It's unlikely your PC meets the demanding hardware specifications required by Windows 11 so again either a new PC or a move to Linux would seem the best way forward.
Please contact Gideon-IT to discuss how to do this and the best way to ensure your PC remains safe to use online.
Windows 10 support ended on 14th October 2025...or did it?
Microsoft's ESU (extended security updates) for Windows 10 can be free if you're willing to log in with a Microsoft account and let it sync your settings to the Microsoft cloud. A small price to pay if you don't have 1,000 Microsoft reward points to hand and you don't want to hand over $30 or the local currency equivalent.
If you cannot upgrade to Windows 11 (and I have a way of upgrading most PCs built in the last 7 or 8 years to Windows 11) then this could keep your PC running safely until October 2027.
